This time last year I was able to share with you a glimpse inside the first illustrated Harry Potter novel. Well, the second installment is here, so I thought I’d share some of the gorgeous illustrations with y’all!!

One of my favorite things about Jim Kay’s illustrations is how he is able to breathe life into even the smallest detail. Take this little owl, for example:

He is able to take familiar characters, many of whom we already have a mental image of, and make them new without destroying the image you already have in mind.

And if those illustrations weren’t enough–the double-page spread images are just lovely! I especially love this snowy snapshot of Hogwarts.

If you’re on the fence about buying these illustrated editions, I think they’re well worth the money. You can typically find them discounted on Amazon, and I look forward to sharing these stories with my kids someday.
